Applied an Environmental Microbiology (AEM) Monthly journal published by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) . The scope of the journal covers current research in the areas of biotechnology, microbial ecology, food microbiology, and industrial microbiology. Online archives date back to 1992. Articles in full-text are free available six months after publication.

International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology IJSEM publishes papers dealing with all phases of the systematics of prokaryotes, yeasts and yeast-like organisms, including taxonomy, nomenclature, identification, phylogeny, evolution, biodiversity, characterization and culture preservation. Its scope covers phylogenetic and evolutionary aspects of all micro-organisms, including the protists such as protozoa and algae, and it also publishes molecular environmental papers with a strong systematics content. All papers published in International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology are freely available without a subscription 24 months after publication. ( IJSEM offers paid immediate open access through Open Option).

Molecular Microbiology Molecular Microbiology publishes research articles reporting the results of molecular studies of eukaryotic microorganisms and of prokaryotes (bacteria and archaea) and their viruses. Studies that include genetic, biochemical, biophysical, bioinformatic and structural analysis leading to a deeper understanding of the molecular principles underlying basic physiological processes or mechanisms are considered as potentially suitable for publication in the journal. Content older than 18 months is freely available online.

ISRN Microbiology
ISRN Microbiology is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes original research articles as well as review articles in all areas of microbiology.

Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology
The Specialty Journal Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology will keep publishing major and in-depth research findings focused on host-microbe interactions that decipher these interactions from a molecular, biochemical, cell biological or immunological perspective. In addition, molecular bases of microbial pathogenic evolution and adaptation to the host will be considered.
